Tankless & Storage Water Heaters

Hot water that keeps up with your household. We install tankless units with or without a recirculation pump, and 40, 50 and 60 gallon storage tanks in high efficiency, standard efficiency and direct vent models. One contractor for the whole job: HVAC installs for homes, and custom galvanized steel fabrication for other contractors.

The Service

Hot Water, Sized Right

A water heater is one of the hardest working gas appliances in the house, and most people only think about it the morning the shower runs cold. Replacing one is more than swapping a tank. The gas supply, the venting, the water connections and the space around the unit all have to suit the new model.

MDMC is a TSSA registered contractor, so the gas side of the install is handled by the same crew that sets the heater. You do not need a plumber for one half and a gas fitter for the other.

60 gallon storageLarge families, soaker tubs, high daily use.Big reserve for busy mornings.Needs space and a gas line that can feed it.
TanklessOwners who want endless hot water and more floor space.Heats water only when a tap opens. Mounts on the wall.Higher install cost. Often needs a larger gas line and new venting.
Tankless with recirculation pumpLong runs from the heater to the farthest tap.Hot water arrives at the tap faster.Adds a pump and controls to the system.

High efficiency

Uses less gas to heat the same water. Usually vents through plastic pipe out the wall.

Standard efficiency

A lower price up front. Often a direct match for an older tank on a chimney.

Direct vent

Pulls combustion air from outside and vents straight out the wall, which suits tight or finished rooms.

Install Day

Five Steps to Hot Water

  1. Call

Tell us how many people live in the house, how many bathrooms you have and what the old heater is.

  2. Visit

We check the gas line size, the venting path, the drain and the space the new heater will sit in.

  3. Quote

You get a written quote for the heater you pick, the gas and venting work, and removal of the old unit.

  4. Install

The old heater is drained and removed. The new one is set, connected to water, gas and venting, then fired and checked.

  5. Cleanup

We haul the old tank away and leave the area clean, with the new heater set to temperature.

Pricing Guide

What Changes the Price

No price list here. Every install is quoted in writing after we see the space.

The heater itself

Tank size, efficiency level and venting type all change the equipment cost. A tankless unit costs more than a standard tank, and a recirculation pump adds to that.

The gas line

Tankless heaters burn a lot of gas for short periods. Many homes need a bigger line from the meter to feed one. We check this at the visit so it is in the quote, not a surprise.

Venting

Going from a chimney to a wall vent, or moving the heater to a new spot, changes the venting work and the materials needed.

Location and access

A heater in an open basement is quicker than one in a closet, a crawlspace or a finished room. A cement pad or stand may also be needed to set the unit level.

Removal

Draining and taking away the old tank is part of the job and is listed on the quote.

FAQ

Water Heater Questions

What are the benefits of a tankless water heater?

Hot water on demand that does not run out, a unit that hangs on the wall instead of taking up floor space, and no tank of water kept hot all day when nobody is using it.

Do tankless water heaters require maintenance?

Yes. Minerals in the water can build up inside the heat exchanger, so a tankless unit should be flushed on a regular schedule. We can set that up as part of a maintenance visit.

Can a tankless water heater supply multiple fixtures at once?

It can, as long as the unit is sized for the flow your household uses at the same time. We size it at the home visit based on your bathrooms, kitchen and laundry.

How long do tankless water heaters last?

A tankless unit that is sized properly and flushed on schedule generally outlasts a storage tank. Water quality and how hard the unit works both play a part.

What influences the cost of installation in Windsor?

The heater type and size, whether the gas line needs upgrading, the venting route, and how easy the space is to work in. The written quote lists each part.

Should I pick a 40, 50 or 60 gallon tank?

It comes down to how many people shower in a row and how many bathrooms you have. Smaller homes often do well with 40 gallons, most family homes with 50, and busy households with 60.
